Some things are so easy that it is almost ridiculous. And I was considering not even posting this one since you can’t even call this a recipe. But then I thought again. Maybe you will appreciate the idea and get inspired. You need only prunes and cinnamon!

This is a nice dessert, or an add on to pancakes or as a topping for chia puddings, or chocolate cake, or, or, or… And now is the season for it! Prunes are also called baking plums. They are normally smaller, and less sweet than normal plums. In German they are called Zwetschgen. Love that name!!

All you have to do is wash the prunes, cut them in half and remove the stone. Place the prune halves in an ovenproof form. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

I used no fat, no sugar, nothing else but prunes and cinnamon.

Place them in the oven and turn the oven on to 180 C (360 F) and set a timer for 25-30 minutes depending on how fast your oven heats up. If your oven is already warm they only need about 20 minutes. Tip is – if you cooked dinner in the oven, you can place the prunes in the warm oven when the rest is done and let them bake while you eat the main course.

I served these oven baked prunes with chocolate pancakes a few days ago, for breakfast

And last night I served them as they were, together with a bit of full fat quark, that I had added a little bit of honey and vanilla powder to.

Sometimes life is that simple!

Enjoy!
